Summer Essentials ft. AUrate New York!

Fashion, Lifestyle

Hello everyone! The start of May signals the rapid approach of summer. With events like Coachella and other music festivals in season, it’s hard not to get excited about summer! Today I wanted to share with you my personal summer essentials. I have been lucky enough to partner up with AUrate New York, a direct-to-consumer fine jewelry brand.

Here’s a little bit about the company; they provide conflict free gold to consumers like you and me at honest prices. It’s the best of both worlds, high quality jewelry at the best possible prices. Everything they make is absolutely gorgeous! Even better, for every piece sold, a book is donated to an economically underprivileged child in need. As someone who loves reading with a passion, I cannot help but support AUrate.

Enough about that! Let’s jump right into my summer essentials!

Alluring Aviators

Absolutely, hands-down we all need sunglasses. Might as well have fun with it! Reflective sunnies are totally in right now and I’m loving it. I choose this picture in particular because the look really frames and draws attention to the face. A messy bun to keep the sweat off out necks, simple earrings, and a fun pair of aviators. What a look!

Now I did mention earrings which leads me into my next essential.

Dainty Earrings

I literally live for a nice delicate pair of earrings! I’ve been squealing over this pair from AUrate. Pearls are a forever classic that every young lady should treasure in her closet and something about gold draws attention. Not to mention, it goes with every outfit. That being said, I guess you can say that dainty earrings are a closet staple. But with summer quickly approaching, now’s the perfect time to tie back you hair and show off a pair!

Silky Slides

When Rihanna came out with those pink slides, it felt as if the whole world was watching. As sure enough, they were because in the following weeks they were everywhere! I picked out this pair of navy Zara slides because they are so elegant yet effortless. I love slides for the fact that I can just throw them on and go. They are perfect from going shopping to walking to the mailbox! Honestly they are so comfortable, I feel 100% safe inwrapping these to the beach or an amusement park where I’ll be doing a lot of walking.

Ruffles, Embroidery, and Print (Oh my)!

Oh my is right, there is just so much to say. First off, summer dresses are a must have, a closet staple, a basic. This season I’ve been seeing a lot of ruffles and I’m happy to say, they’re here to stay. They are just so fun and perfect for summer. I can’t wait to wear one to the beach and watch the wind blow through them.  Now I’m also going to hop on the bandwagon and throw embroidery in here. I think it’s the little details that matter and a little embroidery here and there is perfect. Finally we have prints. I chose this Zara dress (btw the rest are also Zara) because it takes a spin on the classic tropical floral print and turns it into something fresh.

Imagine wearing one of these pieces. To balance out the top I suggest pairing them with simple necklaces such as a long dainty chain with a simple pendant.

It’s all about the details- Necklaces

This Circle Necklace by AUrate is perfect to pair. It is 14K gold plated over sterling silver. I just love the way it looks with a v-neck. It’s light, yet makes a bold statement. During summer months, you wan to wear as little clothing as possible, thus every piece has to add something to the outfit. This is perfect!

Totes Totally

While traveling in the Caribbean I’ve always seen these woven bags on the Islands and though they were such a look. This Zara bag, decorated with pompoms is probably the cutest thing I’ve seen. I think this bag is a good size to carry sunscreen, water bottles, and other essentials for the summer. Might as well as do it in style!

Which essential was your favorite? Let me know in the comments down below! Be sure to also check out AUrate at auratenewyork.com ! Thanks for everything!

As Promised, I’m back with another post! I don’t have to too much to say so let’s jump right into it!

1. Patent leather boots ✨

These are my everything! Since they’re black they go with every outfit, but they add a touch of badass to every look! Plus they were on sale! These are from F21!

2. Mini LV Backpack ✨

This has been my go-to bag for the past couple of week. It’s small enough to be able to carry the basics and nothing more. That’s perfect for me, who can be a bit of a hoarder.

3. Blush Fur Coat ✨

Peep my patent leather boots in this picture! Anyways, I have been lusting after a fur coat for months. Every blogger and their mother has a cheetah print one. But given, I’m a less adventurous girl, I went for this pale, blush coat. It’s so warm and cozy, the only thing is I wish it zippered and had pockets. Btw, this is from F21.

4. milk and honey

Never did I think a book could change my life… milk an honey is chicken noodle soup for every girls’ soul. Read it, please.

5. SZA- Drew Barrymore

This song has been my national anthem for a couple of weeks now. It’s kind of about being in a controlling relationship and how one loses themself. I was once in the same position and this song reminds me of all the things I wish I could’ve said….  yeah.

Thanks guys!

July & August Favorites!

Miscellaneous

favorites

Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve made a traditional blog post. August has been a super busy month for me. I was on vacation for two weeks (check out my travel diary video) and I started a new job at my local music store. I really love my new job, I would be there everyday if I could. My coworkers are really funny and there’s a really cute boy there who looks like a combination of a young Leonardo DiCaprio and Cole Sprouse ( I’m in love). I’ve also been busy with my new YouTube channel which you should definitely check out if you haven’t already! Anyways enough about me, let’s jump into this month’s favorites!

Movies
Coco Avant Chanel

Fashion films have to be my absolute favorite! So of course it was only a matter of time before I stumbled upon this gem. Coco Avant Chanel is basically about Coco Chanel’s history and how the House of Chanel got its start. It’s a beautiful, emotional film that really makes you appreciate Chanel so much more. If you’re a fan of the Devil Wears Prada or fashion in general, this is a film for you.

Youtubers

The LineUp
I have admired these ladies for a long time, but latey they’ve been absolutely killing it. Their editing is on point, I just love watching their videos. Watch one of their videos and you’ll see why they’re on my favorites list.

Emily Lee
I have been watching this girl for over a year now and she has come such a long way! She’s very interesting to watch, her videos are never dull! She makes the best lookbooks and lately she’s been doing a video series in which she does makeup looks inspired by album covers. Emily has been uploading almost twice a week lately and I’m obsessed!

Clothing and Accessories

Vogue Glasses
So I got new glasses in August and they are these vogue brand, dark brown glasses. They’re really cute and I think they really suite my face! That’s pretty much all I can say.

Band Shirts For this one I’ve been inspired by Maddi Bragg. She recently styled a band shirt with a flames skirt and I’ve been obsessed with the look! They’re really casual and laid back and super comfy!

Makeup

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I’ve loved this palette since I got it last Christmas. It really is such a versitile palette. You can create glam looks and natural looks. It also suites a wide variety of skin tones. It’s definitely an investment that’s worth the money. I know a lot of names like KathleenLights absolutely adore this palette and so do I! Check it out.

Elf Dark Blush Palette

If you have a dark to medium skin tone and are looking for blushes, this is for you. I’m so surprised that these are so pigmented and unlike my Sephora blush, it lasts all day. So awesome!

Music

Lost in the Light by Bahamas

I absolutely love this song! It’s so catchy and reminds me of beaches and slow dances!

BORNS

My final favorite is Borns! I have had their album on repeat all month! My favorite song on their album is Holy Ghost. Give them a listen!

That’s all for my favorites! So sorry this was so delayed. Hope you all enjoyed!

Thanks!

Room Tour!

Lifestyle

Hello everyone! I’m very excited to share with you my room tour today! I’ve been working to perfect my room for a couple of months now and finally, I’m satisfied with everything!

So the first thing you see when you enter my room is the vanity. This is where I keep all my makeup and stuff. This one in particular is from Ikea as well as 99% percent of my room. On the chair I keep my Zara backpack. Underneath is just a waste bin and my school bag.

On top you can see my camera on a little display thing from Marshalls. I’m a big plant lover so I have a couple of plants, mostly from Ikea as well as the metal planters. On the left you can see my marquee “A” from Target! Next to that I have a storage unit where I keep jewelry and whatnot as well as a planner and my iPad.

Now this shelf is my pride and joy! The circle shelf is from Target and yes, they still sell it. On the bottom I have my watches, a fake plant from Marshalls, a photo of my city, and some glasses hanging off. On the middle shelf I have another fake plant from Marshalls, a Paris street Style Coloring book also from Marshalls, a copper geometric ball from Marshalls, and a couple essie nail polishes.  Finally on the top is a candle, mini succulent, and another photo of NYC.

Moving on is my closet and mirror. The mirror is from Target. Behind me you can see my desk and my viola case.  Next to my mirror I keep a spider plant, a record player, and a golden pathos.

Above my windows I have some prints that I dry mounted in photography class.

On the next wall is a set of drawers from Ikea. The little copper lamp is also from Ikea. I have an aloe vera and another unknown plant.

I have a little diy marble board as well as my journal and sketch book on top. Next to that is a geometric diamond from HomeGoods. Behind that I have another candle and almost dead cactus.

Next is my bed! It’s from, you guessed it, Ikea. My duvet is also from Ikea. The two black square pillows are from Bed Bath and Beyond. The furry pillow and furry blanket are from Marshalls!

Above my bed, I have this pendant lamp that I ordered off of amazon with one of those cool lightbulbs from Home Depot.

Next to my bed is my little bookshelf. I have two cacti, a fake succulent bowl, and a picture that I diy’d for about $2. In the black bins from Amazon, I store my books, colored pencils, and wires.

Finally, my door. I have a collection of bags hanging from it as well as my laundry bin in the corner.

At last, we have come full circle! That’s it for my room tour. If you have any questions or comments, be sure to leave them down below and I’ll do my best to answer!

My Summer Essentials: Part One

Uncategorized

Since summer is here I decided it was only fair I share with you my summer essentials. This is of list of items I cannot imagine going without this summer. I have decided to make this a two part post. The first half is kinda starting while the second one will come possibly mid-August. This way you guys can get a sense of what changed and what stayed the same. Anyways, let’s jump right into it.

1. Journal

If you are a fellow blogger, I’m sure you don’t go anywhere without your trusted journal, planner, or notepad. Personally, I love having something to write in on hand. Throughout the day I find new sources of inspiration and new ideas. I love being able to pull out a small book to write things down. The next thing I know, I’ve written a new blog post. This summer, I’ll be doing a lot of traveling, which means I’ll constantly have a lot of down time to write.

2. T-shirt Dresses

I absolutely love these! They’re so easy and practical. They can create a look that is either casual or dressed up. For a sporty look, I pair them with converses, but when I want to look more put togethher, I’ll pair them with some heels or wedges. T-shirt dresses are so versatile you can even use them as a swimsuit coverup. Here in New York, it can get very hot which makes it even harder to squeeze into jeans. Thus, dresses provide a more breathable solution. Definitely pick up a t-shirt dress on your next trip to the mall.

3. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

On a recent trip to Ulta, I asked for the best drugstore setting spray, which led me to the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. This is the most effective setting spray at a drugstore price. I have oily skin and this truly does help my foundation stay matte all day long. It’s perfect for hot and humid days. Of course this is a summer must have.

4. DSLR Camera

For the past year, I’ve been taking a photography class. I started with traditional and took an introductory to digital photography in my second semester. However, summer means I have no place to develop my negatives and what not. Thus, my trusted Canon 300D comes in hand. The quality of my photos is really nice and this camera is beginner friendly. The only downside is it doesn’t record videos. This camer is perfect for capturing summer memories.

5. Backpacks

Ever since my trip to Europe two years ago, I’ve been obsessed with backpacks. I rather have a backpack on than a bulky purs. I love the amount of movement they allow and the space. I think they can make an outfit 10x cuter!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!

My Swimsuit Collection 2016

Fashion

Hello everyone! Since summer is here, I thought it was the perfect time to show you guys my swimsuit collection. I only have a handful to show since summer has only just started, so I might do a part two. Hopefully you can get some ideas for this year.

So this first one is from Target. I got it last year during a buy one get one 50% off sale. The top is a halter top with mis while the sides of the bottom has mesh. I haven’t had any slipping with this one or any crazy tan lines. It’s not super modest, but at the same time it’s not pushing the boundaries.

This one is from Old Navy and I picked it up last year as well. It’s definitely a good hcoice if you’re looking for a little more coverage in a bikini. No sagging or slips with this one either.

Orange_1.jpg

Next is this orange Triangl bikini dupe from Marshalls. It is literally exactly the same but 1/4 the price. I really like the neoprene mat rial because it stays molded to your body. It also smooths things out which is always nice. I picked up the same top in black in the winter clearance section for $4.

Finally is another triangl dupe in white. This is is slightly different because the top straps tie in the back like a halter top and the bottoms clearly aren’t neoprene. Still, the color really pops against my dark skin. The only thing is I wish I got the bottoms a size larger. This is from Target and I got it this year so you can still find it in store!

Hope this was helpful!
