Summer Essentials ft. AUrate New York!

Fashion, Lifestyle

Hello everyone! The start of May signals the rapid approach of summer. With events like Coachella and other music festivals in season, it’s hard not to get excited about summer! Today I wanted to share with you my personal summer essentials. I have been lucky enough to partner up with AUrate New York, a direct-to-consumer fine jewelry brand.

Here’s a little bit about the company; they provide conflict free gold to consumers like you and me at honest prices. It’s the best of both worlds, high quality jewelry at the best possible prices. Everything they make is absolutely gorgeous! Even better, for every piece sold, a book is donated to an economically underprivileged child in need. As someone who loves reading with a passion, I cannot help but support AUrate.

Enough about that! Let’s jump right into my summer essentials!

Alluring Aviators

Absolutely, hands-down we all need sunglasses. Might as well have fun with it! Reflective sunnies are totally in right now and I’m loving it. I choose this picture in particular because the look really frames and draws attention to the face. A messy bun to keep the sweat off out necks, simple earrings, and a fun pair of aviators. What a look!

Now I did mention earrings which leads me into my next essential.

Dainty Earrings

I literally live for a nice delicate pair of earrings! I’ve been squealing over this pair from AUrate. Pearls are a forever classic that every young lady should treasure in her closet and something about gold draws attention. Not to mention, it goes with every outfit. That being said, I guess you can say that dainty earrings are a closet staple. But with summer quickly approaching, now’s the perfect time to tie back you hair and show off a pair!

Silky Slides

When Rihanna came out with those pink slides, it felt as if the whole world was watching. As sure enough, they were because in the following weeks they were everywhere! I picked out this pair of navy Zara slides because they are so elegant yet effortless. I love slides for the fact that I can just throw them on and go. They are perfect from going shopping to walking to the mailbox! Honestly they are so comfortable, I feel 100% safe inwrapping these to the beach or an amusement park where I’ll be doing a lot of walking.

Ruffles, Embroidery, and Print (Oh my)!

Oh my is right, there is just so much to say. First off, summer dresses are a must have, a closet staple, a basic. This season I’ve been seeing a lot of ruffles and I’m happy to say, they’re here to stay. They are just so fun and perfect for summer. I can’t wait to wear one to the beach and watch the wind blow through them.  Now I’m also going to hop on the bandwagon and throw embroidery in here. I think it’s the little details that matter and a little embroidery here and there is perfect. Finally we have prints. I chose this Zara dress (btw the rest are also Zara) because it takes a spin on the classic tropical floral print and turns it into something fresh.

Imagine wearing one of these pieces. To balance out the top I suggest pairing them with simple necklaces such as a long dainty chain with a simple pendant.

It’s all about the details- Necklaces

This Circle Necklace by AUrate is perfect to pair. It is 14K gold plated over sterling silver. I just love the way it looks with a v-neck. It’s light, yet makes a bold statement. During summer months, you wan to wear as little clothing as possible, thus every piece has to add something to the outfit. This is perfect!

Totes Totally

While traveling in the Caribbean I’ve always seen these woven bags on the Islands and though they were such a look. This Zara bag, decorated with pompoms is probably the cutest thing I’ve seen. I think this bag is a good size to carry sunscreen, water bottles, and other essentials for the summer. Might as well as do it in style!

Which essential was your favorite? Let me know in the comments down below! Be sure to also check out AUrate at auratenewyork.com ! Thanks for everything!

My Skincare Routine

Lifestyle

Hello everyone! Sorry for taking such a long break, I have been struggling a lot with finding inspiration 😦 But I have finally returned ! I’m also very proud to announce I have reached over 50 followers!!!! It may seem like such a small number but to me, it’s like the entire wolrld!

Anyways, here is my skincare routine!

Step 1: Removing Makeup

Now there are three ways I like to remove my makeup. When I’m super tired and lazy I just use a plain old makeup wipe. Preferably neutrogena wipes. If I have a little more time and energy, I turn to my trusted bio makeup remover from Paris. This stuff has the strength to power through stubborn mascara! However it doesn’t remove all makeup so you will have to go in with something else. Finally, my coveted coconut oil. Coconut oil has soo many uses and makeup removing is just one. I can’t say enough good things about it. Another alternative to coconut oil is olive oil, which everyone tends to have in their pantry!

Step 2: Cleansing

Next step is cleansing! First I always turn to African Black Soap. Black soap has anti-bacterial properties and gets rid of dark spots and acne. Many people have said this is a game changer in the skincare world. Then I might create a scrub out of baking soda and water to get my pores clean. Baking soda is known to treat blackheads.

Step 3: Toning

I know this technically isn’t a toner but I’ve been using oxy-pads as a “toner”. Can’t really say too much about them. I don’t feel like they make a difference. *shrugs* Then I use witch hazel. I use Humphreys Lilac Skin Softening Witch Hazel. Like the title says, it makes my skin super soft. In terms of my hyper pigmentation, I would say yes, I have seen improvements since introducing this product into my routine.

Step 4: Moisturizing

To wrap things up I like to use 99% Aloe Vera gel for my dark spots. You can find this at any organic store. Tip: put this on any pimple for an overnight cure! Next I spray Lush’s Tea Tree Water all over my face. This is a really light moisturizer with the benefits of tea tree oil. Finally I top it off with all natural tea tree oil! And that’s my skincare routine!

Hope you guys found this somewhat helpful! Stay tuned for more!

Exfoliating DIY Coffee Mask for Acne!

Lifestyle

Hi guys! Sorry I haven’t been posting much, I just got back from a cruise! Today I’m bringing you guys a DIY exfoliating coffee mask. The recipe was good ven to me by a friend and I thought I would share it because this thing really does work if you have acne. The coffee grounds  will exfoliate the skin while the honey (which has anti bacterial properties) will make your skin baby smooth!

Ingredients:

Coffee grounds (I like to use leftover Keurig Cups)

Extra Virgim Olive Oil

Milk (any kind will do)

Honey

Small Tupperware Container

First get a small tupperware container and empty your coffee grounds into it. Then eyeball the olive oil, milk, and honey until you get a paste like consistency. And bam! You have yourself a homemade mask! For best results, apply for 10-15 minutes before washing off with warm water.

Enjoy!

Room Tour!

Lifestyle

Hello everyone! I’m very excited to share with you my room tour today! I’ve been working to perfect my room for a couple of months now and finally, I’m satisfied with everything!

So the first thing you see when you enter my room is the vanity. This is where I keep all my makeup and stuff. This one in particular is from Ikea as well as 99% percent of my room. On the chair I keep my Zara backpack. Underneath is just a waste bin and my school bag.

On top you can see my camera on a little display thing from Marshalls. I’m a big plant lover so I have a couple of plants, mostly from Ikea as well as the metal planters. On the left you can see my marquee “A” from Target! Next to that I have a storage unit where I keep jewelry and whatnot as well as a planner and my iPad.

Now this shelf is my pride and joy! The circle shelf is from Target and yes, they still sell it. On the bottom I have my watches, a fake plant from Marshalls, a photo of my city, and some glasses hanging off. On the middle shelf I have another fake plant from Marshalls, a Paris street Style Coloring book also from Marshalls, a copper geometric ball from Marshalls, and a couple essie nail polishes.  Finally on the top is a candle, mini succulent, and another photo of NYC.

Moving on is my closet and mirror. The mirror is from Target. Behind me you can see my desk and my viola case.  Next to my mirror I keep a spider plant, a record player, and a golden pathos.

Above my windows I have some prints that I dry mounted in photography class.

On the next wall is a set of drawers from Ikea. The little copper lamp is also from Ikea. I have an aloe vera and another unknown plant.

I have a little diy marble board as well as my journal and sketch book on top. Next to that is a geometric diamond from HomeGoods. Behind that I have another candle and almost dead cactus.

Next is my bed! It’s from, you guessed it, Ikea. My duvet is also from Ikea. The two black square pillows are from Bed Bath and Beyond. The furry pillow and furry blanket are from Marshalls!

Above my bed, I have this pendant lamp that I ordered off of amazon with one of those cool lightbulbs from Home Depot.

Next to my bed is my little bookshelf. I have two cacti, a fake succulent bowl, and a picture that I diy’d for about $2. In the black bins from Amazon, I store my books, colored pencils, and wires.

Finally, my door. I have a collection of bags hanging from it as well as my laundry bin in the corner.

At last, we have come full circle! That’s it for my room tour. If you have any questions or comments, be sure to leave them down below and I’ll do my best to answer!
